About the Artist

Dakota Bustraan, born in China 2003, is a contemporary artist whose ever-expanding practice explores the relationship between biomorphic forms and abstract compositions. Through experimentation with mixed media, such as layered textures, ink, and coffee staining, Dakota seeks to create works where spontaneity and intention coexist.

Having grown up around art, Dakota hopes to build upon his early influences while continually expanding his practice through new mediums, techniques, and perspectives. His work reflects a process of ongoing inquiry and continual refinement, both conceptually and technically.

Many of Dakota’s artworks have been selected for display in furniture showrooms throughout High Point, North Carolina, where it has been incorporated into thoughtfully curated interiors that bridge contemporary art and design.
